As a business owner, it's easy to get overwhelmed at the number of different hats we need to wear and how to switch effectively between them - especially in the early stages of building a business.

And while it is undoubtedly daunting, there are steps we can take to make this more doable.

Step# 1 - If we can get clear about what we want out of life when all is said and done, we can get clear about how much this will cost.

Step#2 - And once we've got this number in total, per year and for each month, we can know with much greater specificity, what sort of business vehicle we will need.

Step#3 - From there, it's much easier to identify and prioritise what we need to DO task-wise to start, build, grow and sustain this business vehicle.

Step#4 - And once we know what's got to get done, we will be much more able choose who we need to BE.

Step#5 - And this will help us to more easily decide which roles we will need to take on and which hats we will have to wear.

Experience, learning, wisdom and our values will inform these choices around our BE and our hats. So will our successes. And so will our 'hard stuff'.

And remember, it is never a finite or finished process. As time marches on, the business needs change and we respond to others, our environment and life's curved balls, we will have to morph our BE and switch up the hats we wear. And this requires having invested in a reservoir of personal flexibility, versatility, resilience, competence and stretch we can tap into.
