Listening this week to tales of folk who've been summarily retrenched, a number whose salaries no longer cover their monthly expenses, and those who simply can't find a job commensurate with their shiny new qualifications....and I am doubly grateful to be a business owner.
For all the risk and challenges, there's no better place to be than at the helm of my own properly profitable business. And yet....many business owners I speak to right now confess to me that they don't have enough money for the effort they're putting in, they're stretched too thin and if they are doing okay financially they've got team challenges that are robbing them of a comfortable and pleasant life.
If that's you, take heart. It doesn't need to be this way. You can learn to do and be different. You can learn how to turn on enough paying customers each month and build a business on purpose and in such a way that it delivers the life you want and the income you need. And when you do, that's when you'll be able to ride rough waves like the cost of living crisis and see the sort of real results you went into your own business for, in the first place, to have.
